Smartskills Bits & Bytes (P) Ltd., formerly Bits & Bytes Computers, is a Raipur-headquartered skill development company. Established in 1991, we have been an NSDC Approved Training Partner since 2015, and are a Project Implementing Agency under DDU-GKY, and an NSDC-empanelled IISC agency.
From a computer institute to a multi-state skilling company
Established in August 1991 as “Bits and Bytes Computers”, the company is now a private limited company, Smartskills Bits and Bytes Private Limited, with its head office in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. For more than three decades we have given a head start to the careers of over 1.8 lakh aspirants.
We began with computer and IT training for students, government employees and corporates. When India launched its first National Skill Development Policy in 2009, we moved early: we became a Vocational Training Provider in 2010, an NSDC partner in 2015, and went on to implement some of the largest national skilling schemes, including DDU-GKY, PMKVY, DAY-NULM and PMAY-G.
Today we run training centres across Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala, work in 13 sectors, place trainees with national employers, and advise institutions that want to enter or grow in education and skilling.

Our journey
- 1991
Bits & Bytes Computers is founded
Established in August 1991 in Raipur by Pawan Agrawal, first offering IT skills training. The firm later became Smartskills Bits & Bytes Private Limited.
- 2010
Among Chhattisgarh's first private VTPs
In May 2010 we became a Vocational Training Provider under the Government of India's Skill Development Initiative Scheme, one of the first three private VTPs in the state.
- 2015
NSDC approval and an early bet on Logistics
Approved by NSDC as a training partner for a 10-year period — the start of our NSDC partnership. We became an Authorised Training Partner of the Logistics Sector Skill Council, the only one in Chhattisgarh, and enrolled 802 candidates within three months.
- 2016
NSDC fee-based MoU and PMKVY
One of the first companies in Central India to sign an MoU with NSDC under the fee-based model, targeting about 80,000 candidates by 2026. Authorised PMKVY 2.0 training partner. Awarded for Outstanding Contribution in Student Counselling.
- 2017
Knowledge partner to ASSOCHAM
Surveyed skilling in Uttar Pradesh for ASSOCHAM. The resulting knowledge report was unveiled at the National Conference on Skill Development in Lucknow on 24 March 2017, where our MD delivered the keynote. Awards from ASSOCHAM and IEN Education followed.

Best Vocational Training Provider
Named Best Vocational Training Provider (VTP) – Training by IEN Education at the 6th Skill Development Summit, New Delhi.
- 2019
ASSOCHAM Award for Excellence
Recognised for excellence in skill development training at ASSOCHAM, New Delhi, in November 2019.
- 2020
IISC empanelment and online delivery
Empanelled by NSDC on 6 April 2020 to set up India International Skill Centres. Continued teaching through the pandemic on WhatsApp and Google Classroom.
- 2025
NSDC Certificate of Partnership
Continued as an NSDC Approved Training Partner (Certificate NSDC/2024-25/10068).

Online courses and new verticals
Launching NSDC-certified online courses with online enrolment, a Career Counselling at Scale practice, and an Education Business Consultancy vertical.

Central & State Government funded
Employment-linked training for unemployed youth, school and college dropouts, women, persons with disabilities and socially disadvantaged groups. Fees are paid by the scheme in instalments tied to attendance, certification and placement.
CSR funded
Programmes for under-served youth, funded by corporates under their CSR mandates.
Self-paid & higher education
Fee-based certification and, with university partners, management education for graduates seeking corporate careers, with bank finance where needed.
